A se Anar
Self-taught chef Renuka Morris opened Indian restaurant A se Anar after working as a teacher in higher education for 23 years.
Inspired by her roots in Jodhpur and Kolkata, it serves homely, comforting Indian food like the risotto-like khichri paneer and zingy chicken hariyali kebabs. Some dishes show a European influence, such as the Kolkata omlette with green chillis and coriander, and the pistachio creme brulee.
A se Anar opened in 2023 and fast became a neighbourhood favourite with fans praising the quality of the cooking and the warm hospitality. It was named one of the Good Food Guide’s Best Local Restaurants for 2024 – not bad for a first-time restauranteur in her first year of opening.
