Castle Street Townhouse
There’s dining all day every day at chic Castle Street Townhouse, with breakfast and bottomless brunch choices, lunchtime and evening à la carte, and a set price Sunday lunch offering chicken, pork belly, beef and vegan wellington with all the trimmings.
Add in Wine Wednesday, Fizz Friday and live music at the weekend, and this place has all bases covered. Monochrome tiles, exposed brickwork, plush upholstery, marble surfaces and big mirrors – reflected in an equally cosmopolitan and ticks-all-boxes menu. There are sharers, including Camembert, salads, including Caesar, and sandwiches, including classic club. Brioche bun burgers include a plant-based option; at the other end of tastes, steaks include an 8oz sirloin and an 8oz fillet – both are cooked to your liking and served with garlic and herb butter, hand-cut chips, and a slow-roasted garlic and thyme tomato, plus a peppercorn or Béarnaise sauce, your choice. Creamy vegetarian pea and mint risotto and spicy vegan penne arrabbiatta can be zhuzhed up for a bit extra if you fancy: chicken or prawns for the former (the same goes for the Caesar salad, since you’re asking); chicken or chorizo for the latter. Starters such as hummus, falafel and flatbread and sides including truffle and Parmesan hand-cut chips, Dauphinoise potatoes and halloumi fries show off the international flavour further.
Desserts? Don’t mind if we do. Cheesecake of the day has our attention – but wait a minute, dessert cocktails? Double don’t mind if we do. Ours is a chocolate martini: Baileys, Absolut Vanilia and Mozart Dark chocolate liqueur finished with more chocolate… no, you shut up.
