King Street Tavern
Part of the King Street Townhouse hotel, with its luxe bedrooms and rooftop terrace boasting infinity pool and views of the Town Hall, the Tavern is an all-day dining destination that serves British classics and encourages sitting, sipping and socialising at a slow pace.
Be cocooned by the booths and bookcases, warm woods and cosy colours and fabrics, and enjoy contemporary gastro-pub-style comfort food, like posh brioche burgers or wild mushroom and truffle open lasagne. Locally sourced, seasonal ingredients are high on the ticklist, with Goosnargh duck breast and smoked Lancashire macaroni cheese alongside 28-day aged grass-fed fillet steak, roast guineafowl and braised ox cheek. Nice touches include homemade King Street sourdough bread, Loch Duart salmon and eggs from Burford Browns.
The mezzanine level lounge is perfect for private dining or afternoon tea, with Champagne or without (as if), and three tiers: savoury sandwiches and snackettes, indulgent sweet treats (think macarons, tarts, cake and profiteroles) and scones with strawberry jam and clotted cream, as tradition dictates.
