Lucky Mama’s
Lucky Mama’s is a vibrant Italian restaurant on Barlow Moor Road in Chorlton, Manchester serving fresh Roman-style pizza, Veneto-style pasta and a range of Italian-inspired sweet treats such as dessert dough balls and cannoli from its eye-catching pick shop.
The restaurant evolved from a food truck dream, which was born out of the lockdown in early 2020. Owners Mamadou Dhiam and Gaby Santos first bought an airstream trailer, with the aim of taking their pasta and pizza project on the road. However, the pandemic prevented this, and they instead started serving their fresh pizza and pasta to the local community in Eccles, Patricroft and beyond. The popularity of their food quickly led to the couple outgrowing their trailer operation and they eventually found a larger space in Chorlton.
Lucky Mama’s menu is diverse, with options for everyone, including halal beef and chicken dishes, as well as traditional Italian options such as different styles of pasta and sauces, margarita pizzas, and Mama’s Favourite, which features tuna, garlic and herb prawns, onions, and black olives. They also serve focaccia sandwiches, coffee from Salford Roasters, and a range of dough balls and cannoli for dessert.
Mamadou is proud of his unique Rasta pasta, which is made with a creamy jerk spice sauce with garlic and herbs. He is keen to offer customers an alternative to traditional Italian food, and his menu caters to everyone, making it a welcome addition to the Chorlton neighbourhood.
