Nibble NQ
Based in the bijou space next to Pop Boutique, this independent female owned and run café is small in size, but big in personality. You can eat in or take away, or check out the online shop with UK-wide delivery, so you can get handmade cake and afternoon teas wherever you are.
Helped by an “amazing team of super women”, owner Lauren does all the behind-the-scenes business, creating exciting seasonal menus, baking cakes, muffins and brownies, slinging brunches and fielding online orders. Everything is freshly prepared and cooked from scratch home cooking style, with sustainability and zero waste in mind, meaning menus may vary slightly day on day. Meanwhile, daily specials boards showcase freshly made toasties, best brunch deals and the day’s handmade cakes. Nibble NQ are “super inclusive” and always have plenty on offer for those with dietary requirements, including vegan and gluten-free options. There’s a couple of new takes on smashed avocado on toast – one mixes avo with sweet smokey beans, chillies, spring onion and coriander, for a flavourful topping to sourdough, rye or gluten-free loaf; the other, with its tongue-in-cheek moniker “not just avocado on toast”, is guacamole made from pea and watercress, with those same punchy additions. Meat isn’t avoided either, and the “meaty breakfast” goes the whole hog with pork and leek sausages, smoked bacon and Bury black pudding; you can also get any of the options stuffed into a bagel – of course, classic smoked salmon and cream cheese is also available.
We’ve covered the cakes (scones too, don’t forget) and to help wash everything down, there’s plenty of choice on the pots of tea for one plus local espresso in various forms and freshly made smoothies and juices. You won’t go hungry, and you won’t go thirsty, either.
