Pho You
Pho You is a modern Pan-Asian restaurant specialising in hearty pho and other traditional family-style dishes. It feels really authentic, serving food you won’t find at big-chain Asian restaurants. Fish balls aren’t yet a universal delicacy.
The slow-cooked bone broths in which the udon noodles bob are full of flavour and the herbs and vegetables taste as fresh as you like.
Although it’s the pho that gives the place its name and many of its fans, don’t miss out on the atsu-atsu. Reminiscent of a Japanese take on pho, the slightly sweet pumpkin and chicken broth is a must for anyone who loves a big bowl of slurpy soup.
Besides the delights of octopus dumplings and duck spring rolls, Pho You is also a great place for the sorts of oriental desserts you don’t find in many places outside of Chinatown. Try Korean bingsoo specialities like fire on snow mountain made with red beans, or taiyaki, Japanese fish-shaped waffles. Don’t worry – there’s nothing fishy about them other than their appearance.
If this sounds intriguing and adventurous but not one for the kids, there’s also a more family-friendly menu with Korean fried chicken, fries and ice lollies.
NOTE: As of early 2026, Pho You is listed as temporarily closed.
