Spice Thai
Spice Thai has a smart new restaurant on Castle Street; the larger premises are a sign of the love Liverpool has for this authentic South East Asian business.
Orders are prepared by trained chefs following traditional recipes and using fresh ingredients and exotic herbs and vegetables sent directly from Thailand.
Signature dishes include gai yang grilled chicken served with homemade chilli-infused jaew dipping sauce, designed to blow your socks off, and tod mun fishcakes, which come in fours. Worth a look, too, are the famous pad kee mao drunken noodles, traditionally scoffed after a big night out to sop up the alcohol and strengthen the spirits for the day ahead, and Spice’s grilled duck breast – you can pick between their special teriyaki sauce or the tamarind version. There’s also signature stir-fried rice with your choice of meat and lots of crunchy veg, and massaman, green or panang curries.
If fish is your thing, you’re in luck as the sea bass comes whole and the choice of dishes is plentiful: order garlic, red curry or tangy chilli sauce or the zingy Thai herbs salad. Don’t forget to look at the starters, which include spring rolls, prawn and vegetable tempuras, chicken satay and prawn crackers – not everything is spicy on the Spice Thai menu, and, as everything is cooked from scratch, you can ask for the dishes to be cooked to your tastes.
Afters include the likes of mango sticky rice, and the restaurant is licensed, so you can get your fill of Chang and Singha beers and more.
