Trattoria 51 Liverpool
Offering good-value Italian classics, Trattoria 51 Liverpool is an easy option if you want a family-friendly independent in the city centre. Set across two floors in a grand Victorian building, the imposing entrance gives way to a stylish, modern interior well suited to the relaxed dining on offer.
The menu has all the obvious favourites: stone-baked pizzas, rustic pasta dishes, grills, salad and seafood specials. Go for one of their artisan pastas (made fresh by hand on site) such as the pappardelle boscaiola with wild mushroom, pancetta, tomato, garlic and cream. Or their crab ravioli with lemon, tarragon and white wine sauce.
It’s particularly good for gluten-free options, including GF pizza and pasta, and there is plenty to keep vegetarians happy. Vegans, less so.
The weekday lunch menu is a bit of a bargain at £15.95 for three courses. You’re also welcome to drop in for drinks – you’ll get a warm welcome whether you’re eating or just stopping by for coffee or cocktails.
