Wine & Wallop Didsbury
Wine & Wallop Didsbury is a cosy retreat where you can sample an interesting selection of wine, micro-brewed ales and cask ciders, accompanied by a light lunch or a few nibbles.
Naturally, they have a good selection of cheese (Blue Monday, Wyfe of Bath…) and bits of charcuterie on offer, but it’s not the food that’s the point. The bar offers themed ‘Wine Flights’ featuring five small glasses of wine. It’s a good opportunity to be adventurous and if you find one you like, you can buy a bottle (or two) to take home.
Their events calendar is varied, with Sunday sessions featuring live music of the chilled-out variety from folk to ’90s dance covers. They also host a monthly wine-tasting event where you can channel your inner Jilly Goolden and pretend you can tell the difference between cheap plonk and a re-mortgage-the-house vintage.
