Nuffield Health Manchester Printworks
This gym on top of The Printworks is probably best known for its pool with views over Corporation Street, but there’s much more to it than a photogenic swimming spot. It’s part of Nuffield Health which also runs hospitals and medical centres, and gym members have access to the group’s wider services and expertise.
Every three months they can have a free MOT health check, covering the major health risks and emotional wellbeing. It comes with a 12-week action plan from a personal trainer which you can follow yourself in the gym.
If health concerns and injuries have hindered you from exercising in the past, it’s well worth considering this place. There’s a physiotherapist and a psychotherapist on site who can help you get and stay on track.
For most members though, it’s the classes and facilities that keep them coming back: the functional training area has plenty of interesting equipment including boxing bags, medicine balls, and free weights. There’s also a spin studio, a sauna, two steam rooms, a good-sized gym with resistance and cardio equipment, and a space for classes, which include Les Mills, yoga, Zumba, pilates and various HIIT workouts. Swimming lessons (group and one-to-one) are available here for adults and children.
A small cafe area serves Costa Coffee, fresh protein shakes, and energy bars. Free WIFI means you can use it as a workspace if you want an escape from the office.
