The Gas Works Brewbar
GlobalThere’s no shortage of open kitchens on display in restaurants nowadays but few places can offer a working brewery as a backdrop. At Gas Works Brewbar the ale goes straight from tank to tap thanks to their onsite microbrewery, and you can watch it fermenting as you sip.
This industrial-styled bar is from Steve Pilling and the team behind the popular Dockyard pubs in Spinningfields and MediaCity. Its main draw is the craft beers – home-brewed and from local and global independents. A prime location opposite Home on the pedestrianised Jack Rosenthal Street also brings in the punters.
The menu is described as ‘classic pub food’ but we’d call it classic bar food: think gourmet burgers, chicken wings and loaded fries rather than steak and ale pie.
Go on Mondays and you can play for free on their full-sized shuffleboard table.
