The Roebuck Inn

In a little hamlet of cottages just outside Knutsford you’ll find The Roebuck Inn, an 18th-century pub that looks like it fell out of the pages of Country Living magazine. If you’re searching for for rustic, cosy dining with food that’s a level above, it won’t disappoint. 

There’s brunch, and a Sunday lunch of course, but essentially it’s a bistro, serving up dishes such as French onion soup, a grilled lamb skewers small plate, and a homemade honeycomb Paris Brest dessert. Dishes span continents (there’s Korean chicken, Italian breads and desserts, and a Cheshire take on tacos). The thematic thread between them is the unerring quality, hence all the countless ‘best pub’ awards it’s won over the years. 

The excellent wine selection includes some unusual options, and there’s a bottle store in the back room if you’re looking for something to take home. Your ideal dinner here though would be paired with an overnight stay in one of its boutique rooms – they’re just as inviting and delightful as the pub itself.
