Vincent Cafe & Restaurant
Part of the contemporary boutique hotel of the same name, the Vincent Café & Restaurant offers a bit of everything and, set on Southport’s Victorian canopy-adorned Lord Street, is a go-to for its daily brunch menu, Champagne afternoon tea, Sunday lunch and fresh sushi bar.
Brunch includes a choice of eggs Benedict and omelettes, such as the vegetarian goat’s cheese number with spinach and sun-blushed tomato. Afternoon tea is available seven days a week, from 3pm until 6pm, with a selection of freshly cut finger sandwiches and homemade sweet treats including cakes and scones with clotted cream and jam, a choice of teas, and Prosecco or Champagne. Sunday lunch is served until 6pm, with either beef ribeye or nut roast, both with roasties, seasonal vegetables and Yorkshire pudding. The sushi bar, meanwhile, serves up platters, including an all-sashimi spread of freshly cut tuna, salmon and sea bass plus prawn and flying fish roe; maki and temaki, such as the unusual vegan mango, cucumber and chilli, and “gringo sushi”, for the non-fish-lovers in the party, taking in barbecue pulled pork and roasted duck. The rest of the eclectic menu changes seasonally and features British classics alongside European and international cuisine: think beer-battered fish and chips and steak with French fries, baked herb-crusted loin of cod with crushed new potatoes and lemon butter, and vegan mushroom shepherd’s pie with pickled red cabbage.
The choice of desserts is equally varied, from a sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce and vanilla ice cream to a chilled peach and ginger crumble with raspberry sorbet.
