Wood

Restaurant - Modern British

The eponymous restaurant of Simon Wood, MasterChef winner and local lad from Oldham, is an accomplished affair. The décor – muted natural tones in a glass-clad new build – places the focus of any meal on the fine, seasonal food and wine on offer.

Bold yet balanced dishes on the multi-course, locally sourced menu could include truffled duck egg and soldiers, or sashimi British trout with preserved white asparagus.

Located on the mezzanine floor in the restaurant is Homage, an intimate lounge dedicated to paired cheese (geddit?), chutneys, wines and beers. The offering has been put together by some of the very best producers and craftsmen in the North.

Again, the menu is local and seasonal, but includes sections for soft cheeses, goat’s and sheep’s milk cheeses and blue cheeses. All paired beautifully with carefully chosen wines.
