The Jane Eyre Chorlton
The Jane Eyre Chorlton is a neighbourhood restaurant and cocktail bar on Beech Road, Chorlton’s most charming street. This offshoot of the Ancoats original has fitted in nicely to a location that’s been home to some of Chorlton’s best restaurants over the years (and a few short-lived mistakes). The Jane Eyre is definitely in the former camp.
The wine list is excellent with a huge selection of quality options by the glass. The cocktails are very good too, as is the alcohol-free offering. The drinks are worth booking a table for in their own right.
It would be a shame to miss out the food though because these small plates are a celebration of the best of Modern British cooking. Meaty flavours and contrasting textures are almost sensuously good – the beef on toast may not sound it, but wait till you try it.
There are some excellent vegan options too like the hispi cabbage with pistachio. The menu changes regularly so you know you’re getting good, honest, hearty seasonal cooking.
