Pop Boutique Manchester Oldham Street
Family-run independent Pop Boutique was the first vintage store to open on retro clothing hotspot Oldham Street. It’s been in this building since 1995, and over at Afflecks since the late 1980s, so it’s fair to say they know their stuff.
With long-standing contacts over in the US and mainland Europe, they bring in sought-after, good quality clothes spanning from the 1950s up to Y2K.
Whether you’re after preppy US college sweaters, sixties mod style or floral fifties circle skirts, this is the place for men’s and women’s vintage clothes and accessories. They sell a lot of classic Americana and workwear to collectors, and shift plenty of Y2K clothing to the city’s student population.
To make up for gaps in the market, they also produce their own range of cord flares and period-style jumpsuits. There’s not an unlimited supply of 1970s denim, after all.
Pop Boutique now has stores in Liverpool, Leeds, London, Gothenburg and Malmo (and they export to other vintage shops across Europe) but it all started here in Manchester.
