Prestatyn Central Beach
Prestatyn Central Beach is a great spot to take the children. There are a few amusements but it’s nothing like its more raucous neighbour, Rhyl, and it’s all the better for it. There’s a real family feel to the place.
The Blue Flag beach is sandy and gently sloping with an accessible ramp down to the sand. It feels like a safe place for swimming, building sandcastles and splashing in the shallows, especially under the watchful eye of the RNLI lifeguard.
There are dog restrictions from 1 May to 30 September but the beach is backed by a four-mile long promenade which can be used for walkies instead.
If you’re looking for serious walking, Prestatyn’s shore is also the starting point for the long-distance Offa’s Dyke National Path.
Watersports can be enjoyed further along at Barkby Beach with a buoyed channel for jet-skis and speed boats. In the other direction, the promenade leads to Ffrith Beach which is quieter, wilder and more suitable for dog-walking.
