This elegant, paired-back cocktail bar opened in the corner space of Mackie Mayor in November 2023, and fast became a favourite with people who appreciate the art of a well-mixed drink.

If you like your surroundings to be understated and chic rather than ostentatious, it could be your spot. With big windows overlooking the cobbles, and a covered terrace, it works in the daytime as well as at night. (Stray is one of the few cocktail bars in Manchester that’s open weekday afternoons as well as all day at the weekends).

The signature drink is the tomato vine margarita made with tomato vine el tequileno blanco and banhez mezcal. A cherry tomato takes the role usually filled by an olive. Classic margaritas are also available by request.

They do a good range of low-or-no drinks for those who want to keep a clear or clear-ish head. The rotating selection of wine is also well worth checking out.
