The Smithfield Social
The Smithfield Social fits in well to the Northern Quarter bar scene. It doesn’t offer anything radically different but what it does, it does well.
It’s a casual all-day affair from morning brunches to late night drinking. After eggs benny and the like (although brunch is served till 4pm), the main menu is made up of small plates with influences from all over. Dishes such as grilled figs with whipped goats cheese are up against salt and pepper squid or chicken wings with ‘nduja and chilli honey.
There are also a few sandwiches on the menu like meatball focaccia (made with beef and bone marrow) and larger mains too like lobster mac and cheese, and steak frites. Food quality is good but service can be patchy.
The interior is stylish and understated and the bar separates the front and back areas but the real showpiece is an outdoor terrace on the sunny side of the street.
Open: Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun
