St Peter’s Tavern
Originally built in 1788 as a Roman Catholic church, this building had a long and storied history before it reopened as St Peter’s Tavern in 2024.
The 1936 Pub Company (who brought The Vines and The Munro back to life) have done a sterling job at creating a beautiful new-old pub for Liverpool.
The globe lighting, chessboard flooring, and classic cocktails give it a feel of vintage glamour. While the bar snack menu of homemade pies and sausage rolls brings things back down to earth. This is a proper pub after all, with 16 ales on cask, mainly local breweries, and live sports on the telly.
There’s four floors and two beer gardens so the football doesn’t take over the whole venue, far from it. You’ll easily find a quiet spot where you can catch-up over a pint. With stained glass windows and carved iconography, the building’s religious origins are still felt throughout – you might even find yourself chatting to the big man above.
