The Rat & Pigeon
The Rat & Pigeon may be Manchester’s newest pub, but it’s an oldie too. The team behind the much-loved Crown and Kettle have taken over Mother Macs.
The new venture has pops of bright colour, a fab jukebox and light and airy feel with two bars set over three floors. Despite that, it retains the pub sensibilities of its past with a tongue in cheek nod to city centre backstreet boozing squalor in the name.
It always had the bones of a lovely pub but Mother Macs could never shake off its reputation as a rough boozer with a notorious mass-murder on the premises. Now it’s an independent pub for Northern Quarter drinking with weekend DJ sessions and craft ales on tap.
