Elif
Turkish barbecue restaurant Elif is part of the ST Hospitality group, which also owns Bistro Franc on Hanover Street. And much like the French restaurant, it doesn’t overcomplicate things. Chances are you’ve arrived at Elif in the hopes of eating an array of near-Eastern dishes; hot and cold mezes, skewered, flame-cooked kebabs, and salads, which is exactly what you’re getting.
There’s an a la carte, taking in the likes of whole sea bass, a more generous vegetarian and vegan section than many restaurants, and a set lunch of two courses for £18 that will satisfy on all fronts.
With its marble flooring, chandeliers and fountain, Elif’s grand setting in the former NatWest Bank could easily overshadow the food of a lesser operation. Here it complements it perfectly.
