Engine Social Dining
Engine Social Dining serves up a delightful array of global small plates where Spanish boquerones rub up against masala cod with red curry lentils.
It wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to describe the menu as ambitious tapas; the Iberian influence is notable. No surprise as head chef, Mark Kemp, was once second-in-command at El Gato Negro in Ripponden before it leapt over the Pennines and landed, sure-footed as a cat, in Manchester city centre.
It’s hard not to over-order when the menu is a masterclass in temptation. We loved the Korean spiced bavette steak, the Mexican soft shell crab with red mole and the majestic pork chop with chorizo and butter beans.
There’s something exciting about the flavour combinations at Engine Social Dining. It takes a certain confidence to put together such disparate dishes – and even more for it to work so well.
Don’t miss the specials – using the best seasonal ingredients, there are some real gems to be discovered here but when they’re gone, they’re gone.
