Hanover Street Social
Hanover Street Social is a big, buzzy bar and restaurant from Paddy Smith’s well-regarded Red and Blue Group, which also runs Salt House Tapas and Bacaro.
The menu is eclectic and not easy to define – we’d describe it as a mid-Atlantic bistro. Think elegant versions of British classics such as slow-braised lamb shoulder with new potatoes, pea and spring onion fricassee, alongside more global, New York-style dishes such as goats cheese mousse on brioche with pear and candied walnut.
Care has been taken to cater for all dietary preferences: there are separate lunch, dinner, and Sunday menus for vegetarian, vegan, dairy-free and gluten-free diners.
The setting echoes the glamour of 1920s Parisienne brasseries: leather booth seating, low-lighting, a long bar, and chessboard flooring. Hanover Street Social is stylish without being pretentious; an atmosphere helped by the warmth of the front-of-house team.
