House of Fu Manchester
Beloved Leeds ramen hotspot House of Fu opened on Portland Street in October 2023. This Japanese restaurant and bar is renowned for its nourishing bowls of ramen, its small plates – and its karaoke booths.
The ground floor is dedicated to the food-side of the experience, while upstairs there’s a bar called Hello Cocktail Bar, and downstairs you’ve got Hello Karaoke.
Food-wise, opt for classic ramen bowls such as shoyu chicken or try something new; the kimchi and cheese ramen comes recommended. Japanese-inspired small plates include cucumber salad, prawn toast and chilli crunch rice.
For drinks, go for sake or beer from local brewery Sureshot. There’s also frozen yuzu margaritas and a decent range of lo and alcohol-free drinks.
Neon signs and geometric art makes this place pop visually. If you want to combine your food with a spot of singing, the karaoke booths can cater for eight, 12, or 22. Or just you and your ABBA-obsessed mate, if that’s how you roll.
There’s also a private dining room that can put on a full banquet style spread if you’re after a proper knees-up.
