Oats And Honey

Restaurant - British

Whatever it is you’re after, “social sustainable store” Oats And Honey is likely to have it – from Aloë earrings designed and made in Liverpool by Alice and Chloe to roast ham and piccalilli sarnies dropped off by Albert Street Bakery up the road. Eat in, take out, shop till you drop…

Salford-based independent specialty micro-roastery Swan Song Coffee Roasters tops up supplies with a fresh batch of beans every week, and, if you fancy something a little stronger, Oats And Honey can sort you out with a choice of vino, gin and various local beers on draught – ShinDigger Mango Unchained, Manchester Union Lager, Rivington Brewing Co’s Got Me A Drop Top or Another Night In A Row, for example. And you don’t need to feel guilty about indulging in a tipple or two – the buzzy, friendly community hub runs plenty of crafty workshops so you can think while you drink, and take something home with you, from terrariums made with the help of Amy from Little Pot Plants to show-stopping summer solstice headdresses thanks to Hannah Elizabeth Flowers. The venue also plays host to regular Booze & Burn workshops that show you how to upcycle jars and bottles into vegan-friendly eco conscious candles – all while enjoying a glass of fizz and some nibbles. Talking of which, there are cakes and bakes to choose from on the counter, ever-changing small plates, and regular wine tastings showcasing British cheeses. This is also the place to stock up, plastic free, on chocolate raisins or rather more wholesome split peas (there are loads of filling stations), and you can bring in your empties to refill with your favourite eco-friendly cleaning products or beauty bits and bobs. It’s also good for birthdays – there are plenty of locally made gifts, crafts and artwork, as well as greetings cards and wrapping paper.

And if you just fancy sitting quiet with a good read, there’s also a cosy book corner where you can swap tomes or while away a rainy afternoon…
