Only Yu
This 2023 addition to George Street has already secured a place as one of the most popular restaurants in Chinatown. Spread across two floors, Only Yu is lively even at lunchtime, thanks to friendly service and well-executed Chinese food.
Recommended dishes include the tangy steamed turbot with ginger and spring onion (it’s not cheap but it’s big enough to share between two), and the scrambled eggs with crab meat and black truffle, which shouldn’t work but really does.
There’s a ‘create your own’ menu for folks who know exactly which sauce and meat they want, plus dim sum, a banquet menu, and a three-course early evening menu for under £20.
The main menu is where you’ll find those recommendations mentioned earlier, plus all manner of authentic Chinese dishes, from spicy jelly fish salad to stir fried bitter melon with dace fish.
