Sister Moon

Sister Moon is the new opening at the top of the Treehouse Hotel on Deansgate. This South East Asian restaurant offers some of the best views in the city and a stonkingly good lobster roll.

Expect open-fire cooking and big, punchy flavours. After all, Sister Moon is the new project from Sam Grainger who has already done great things with Belzan, Madre and the sadly-missed Medlock Canteen. He’s aided and abetted by DJs and globally-influenced foodsters, the Unabombers.

Views are magnificent. You don’t just plonk a restaurant on top of a hotel for no reason. Looking out over Manchester Cathedral at twilight and watching the lights of the city illuminate themselves one by one is a bloody good reason.

The sky-high sights and the cocktails are enough to make Sister Moon a great addition to Manchester’s food scene. When you add dishes like smoky BBQ octopus with rich massaman flavours, it’s a definite top pick.
