Spice City

Restaurant - Indian subcontinent

At this city centre favourite on Stanley Street you’ll find colourful, vibrant dishes that mix authenticity with a sense of fun.

Although curries from the Indian sub-continent are the order of the day, the most celebrated dish on the menu is an Egyptian-inspired one: Chicken tikka Mo Salah. Can you even call yourself a Liverpool fan if you don’t order this?

Starters include dishes like Goan garlic chicken, and a spiced sardine and spinach dish, alongside the traditional bhaji and pakoras.

The grilled charcoal clay oven dishes are rightly popular – who doesn’t love Tandoori lamb chops when they’re done properly? Specialities include the tawa exotica which is like a turbo-charged Indian mixed grill, and the special DOC which tries to fuse together the culinary styles of the whole of India. For real Indian cooking rather than inventive spice-play order the home-style desi biriyani.
