Wolf At The Door
The team behind Wolf At The Door know a thing or two about adaptation. They launched as a highly stylised restaurant and cocktail bar serving NOMA-influenced small plates. Then changed their name (they were formerly known as Wilderness) and completely overhauled their menu. Nowadays they serve tacos and bao buns that keep the playful feel of the original offering, but with much more accessible prices.
Typical fillings include jerk chicken taco with jerk beer gravy and pineapple salsa, and king prawn bao with sriracha mayo, shredded red cabbage and toasted sesame seed.
There’s an upstairs cocktail bar with a central space that has been designed to remove barriers between those making the drinks and those enjoying them. The wine menu is all-natural and they have an extensive range of craft ales.
The Wolf At The Door team includes Dan Morris from Cottonopolis, and Mat Lake, Bart Murphy and Lyndon Higginson of Bunny Jacksons amongst other projects. Their taco, bao and cocktails formula seems to have stuck for now – although this part of town is notoriously fluid. As with all NQ bar concepts, watch this space.
