Wrights Fish & Chip Shop
This neon-lit, tiled chippy on Cross Street is owned by local couple Trisha and Marcus and has plenty of fans including a few celebrities. There are queues out of the door regularly for their traditional fare done very, very well.
It’s more of a takeaway than an eat-in place, but there are a few seats in the window where you can sit and watch the Cross Street trams go by.
They do daily specials for around the £6.00 mark. Typical options could be chicken curry with rice and chips, or cod bites, chips and a side. Other favourites include their fried cod, battered sausage and Holland’s pies as well as their excellent gravy.
