Daffodil Hotel & Spa
If you’re looking for a luxurious stay within walking distance of shops, restaurants, hiking routes and tourist attractions, The Daffodil Hotel and Spa is a good option.
Situated on the northern shore of Grasmere, just outside the honeypot village, it’s pretty much bang in the middle of the Lake District, offering easy access to popular spots such as Ambleside, Langdale and Keswick as well as plenty to do on your doorstep.
The shoreline location gives serene lake views from some bedrooms though sadly there’s no direct access to the water from here. If you want a dip, head down to the spa instead. The thermal pool is adult-only so you can expect a peaceful, splash-free soak. There’s also a sauna, steam room, and treatments including massages and facials. They don’t offer beauty services such as nails and brows – it’s all about unwinding and slowing down here.
The food at The Daffodil is another big draw. There’s a confident, skilled kitchen team who’ll ensure you book in for dinner as well as breakfast. Between times, you can snuggle up with a book and a cocktail in the cosy lounge bar, or make the most the soporific bedrooms. You’re in one of the most beautiful places in the world but don’t be surprised if you find it hard to drag yourself out of the door.
