The Shankly Hotel
The Shankly Hotel, like its namesake, is one of a kind. Named after Bill Shankly, the charismatic former manager of Liverpool FC, it’s an ode to Liverpudlian style, swagger and individuality.
The rooms are plush with oversized mirrors, jacuzzi baths, and leather and velvet furnishings. While most are decorated in tasteful coffee colours with gold accents, there are also the ‘party rooms’. Each of these big, bold suites has its own individual theme ranging from a navy Haig Club-inspired room to an ultra-feminine FOMO suite.
They’re designed for big nights out (or big nights in) and sleep from five to 24 people each. One has a ten-berth Roman bath. Another has its own swimming pool.
If you’re looking for a hotel for a hen or stag do or birthday weekender, and can’t decide who should share with who, this hotel is your solution. If these walls could talk . . .
Downstairs, LFC fans will feel fully at home in the hotel’s restaurant and bar, The Bastion, which is decorated with Bill Shankly memorabilia. Its crowd-pleasing menu is good value and should suit everyone from families to visiting football supporters. On match days you can watch the action on the big screens if you’ve not got a ticket for the game. They also do a lively bottomless brunch on Sundays complete with samba dancers and a live DJ.
On the top floor there’s a conference, weddings and events suite with a rooftop terrace. As of spring 2024, the rooftop terrace is open to the public on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays (weather dependent). Head here for cocktails with views over the Liverpool skyline.
