Generator St Peter’s Square
Partly funded by the government, Generator St Peter’s Square is one of the cheapest coworking spaces in Manchester. The daily rates are currently £3 an hour, £7 for a half day, and £12 for a full day – and they includes access to free workshops, events and one-to-one business support.
It’s particularly aimed at start-ups and entrepreneurs (or ‘founders’ in 2025 parlance), while its sister site in Ancoats is all set-up for creative types with a podcasting studio, iMacs and studio space.
That said, anyone can use either location to get some work done – no need to show a growth strategy or mood board on entry. At St Peter’s Square you’ve a choice of workspaces – there’s individual pods, standing desks, hot desks, collaborative spaces, quiet zones, meeting booths, and phone booths, including a glass one specially for claustrophobic people.
There’s some natural light at the front of the space. And the vibe overall is business-like, productive and quiet. It’s perfect for when you need to zone in and work without distractions.
Lockers, snacks and hot drinks are included. Another bonus is the location – just a few steps from the St Peter’s Square tram stop.
The 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday opening hours could be seen as a negative if you prefer a more flexible working schedule. Personally, we quite like being chucked out at 5pm. It’s a much more civilised way to work than hammering out emails deep into the evening.
