Champneys Spa at Mottram Hall Hotel has justly been awarded 5 Bubble Luxury status by The Good Spa Guide. It’s a very gentle spa experience, almost cocooning with soft lighting and the relaxing smell of Champneys products lingering in the air.

There are a range of pools with personal cabanas alongside for added privacy, plus monsoon and drench showers, a range of steam room and saunas and – brace yourself – an invigorating cold room. If you are feeling more active there is a well-equipped gym with panoramic views but most people go to relax.

The spa treatment rooms use top brands like Champneys (of course) as well as Clarins and Elemis. Go for the signature body radiance treatment, a mix of full body massage and exfoliation. It’s not cheap, but if you’re looking for luxury, this is it.
