Wild Shore Delamere
If you’ve never known the joy of flying over a lake on a rope swing and daring yourself to let go, get it on your bucket list, and then get yourself over to Wild Shore Delamere.
This outdoor watersports and aqua park near Chester offers all kinds of water-based adventures, including the Aqua Chimp; a ropes course where falling off means getting wet. Who needs a harness when you’ve got a lake to cushion your fall?
They also have a big blue floating playground, complete with tire runs, ninja jumps, and slides. And they offer watersports such as stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), wake boarding (like surfing but on cables), and ringo, where you and your crew tear up and down the lake in an inflatable ring.
If you’re thinking this all sounds like something you’d do in the balmy waters of Spain or France but not in the UK, fear not; wetsuits are provided, along with safety equipment and a full briefing. (And the park is closed during the coldest months).
Outdoor swimming at Wild Shore Delamere
For £6 a session, you can swim around their 400m or 750m loop without fear of currents, pollution, or sudden fatigue (there’s a safety kayak on stand-by). It’s a good one to know about if you’re training for a triathlon or just love the feeling of swimming outdoors in nature.
