Alderley Edge Hotel
This new incarnation of the restaurant at the Alderley Edge Hotel delivers good Modern British food in a light, airy dining room with a welcoming feel.
Décor is bold and not always cohesive but that doesn’t take away from this Cheshire favourite. Surrounded by footballers and food fans, choose from a good-value fixed menu, à la carte, and a popular Sunday lunch.
Since chef Sean Sutton’s departure, the menu has moved away from the artistry and invention of fine-dining and into a more crowd-pleasing territory.
Expect options such as fresh cod fillet in Manchester Pale Ale batter with thick-cut chips, and hand-pressed burgers on sourdough. The dry-aged Josper Grill steaks are a highlight.
This more mainstream menu hasn’t impacted on the quality of the food at the Alderley Edge Hotel – this is still one of the best places to eat in this corner of Cheshire.
Weather permitting, you can have drinks on the heated terrace in their ‘secret garden’. Weather not permitting, take a seat in the conservatory-style dining room; it’s been designed to make the most of the garden views.
