Thaikhun Street Food Trafford Centre

Thai

Joining the Spinningfields OG in what is now a double figure chain of Thai streetfood venues founded by Sukhothai province-born Kim Kaewkraikhot (also behind the Chaophraya empire), the Trafford Centre outlet is decorated with eccentric bric a brac hand selected from Thailand.

Pronounced “tycoon”, Thaikhun offers a spread of stirfries, curries, rice and noodle dishes, plus sharers and small dishes. The menu at this special “all you can eat Thai buffet” changes every day, so you can explore the range of freshly made Thai dishes inspired by authentic recipes from the streets of Bangkok each time you visit. Featuring classic Thai dishes, lots of vegan options and some modern twists, there’s everything from Thai green curry and massaman curry to grilled chicken satay and grilled pork skewers with papaya salad, and from prawn tom yum and kai soi gai curried chicken noodle soup to vegetable spring rolls and tofu in red curry sauce. “There will always be something for everyone,” promises the website. Vegetarian and vegan options are plentiful – in some cases, you just need to specify when ordering.

Thaikhun is fully licensed, so if you’ve come on the tram, fill your boots. There’s also non-boozy drinks, although even the Thai iced tea or iced green tea “crafted with love and sweetened condensed milk, served with whipped cream” can be pumped up with spiced rum.
