Wingstop
Wingstop started life as a one-off restaurant in Garland, Texas before spreading its wings across North America and then, the world. Piccadilly is home to the chicken chain’s first outlet in the North of England but with an expansion plan like that behind it, we’re betting it won’t be the last.
The menu is almost entirely chicken wings with the exception of a handful of sides plus churros for afters, so it’s not great for veggies or vegans. The variety comes in the different cuts (tender, wing or boneless) and the number of rubs and sauces. They’re handily organised by heat factor so a delicate type might go for a ‘gateway flavour’ such as zesty lemon and cracked pepper, while a hardcore chilli fiend might go for the ’sweet with heat’ mango haberno.
Order at the counter to takeaway or get a table (there are more at the back). It’s a fast food restaurant: you’ll be here for the joy of crispy coated chicken rather than the atmosphere.
