West Kirby Beach
West Kirby Beach is a relatively small sandy beach that’s perfect for families. All the facilities you need are right there in West Kirby (Confidential Guides highly recommends Marigolds for fish and chips) and lifeguards patrol in high season.
It’s clean and compact with soft sand, a promenade, and sand dunes. The beach is easily accessible and specialist beach wheelchairs are available to reserve.
There’s so much to do – Marine Lake offers a range of watersports including canoeing, windsurfing, kayaking, paddleboarding and sailboarding as well as morning wild swimming sessions. While the promenade offers an easy coastal walk and great sunsets. Dogs are welcome year-round.
The main attraction of the beach at West Kirby is the chance to walk out to Hilbre Island (pictured above), Middle Eye and Little Eye. The island is only accessible at low tide so plan ahead by checking the safest route and the tide times.
Take everything you need with you – there are no shops or drinking water available when you get there, but remember to leave nothing behind. The nature reserve is an idyllic place for spotting seals, dolphins and sea birds and is only about 50 minutes’ walk from the beach.
