6 Music Festival
The BBC’s 6 Music Festival is a celebration of up-and-coming talent, emerging acts and the cool elder statespeople of alternative music across all genres. It started off in Manchester back in 2014 and pops up annually in the coolest gig venues across the UK. But, Manchester being synonymous with music and all that, we are its default home. 6 Music has chosen Greater Manchester more than any other city. We’re flattered. Really.
Every year, the 6 Music Festival bandwagon rolls into its chosen town bringing sell-out shows, unforgettable DJ sets and club nights, and memorable firsts where artists perform unexpected collaborations, reinvent themselves and make a real statement about modern music.
6 Music Festival 2024
Greater Manchester hosts the 6 Music Festival for the third time and for the second year running from 7-10 March 2024. With headline acts like Young Fathers, Gossip and The Smile (containing erstwhile members of Radiohead) taking to the stage at the Victoria Warehouse on the Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, many tickets are sold out already.
As well as the big names at Victoria Warehouse, Band on the Wall is the venue for BBC Introducing on Thursday, letting you see the headline acts of tomorrow in a more intimate setting. It’s also the place for an indie dive disco on Friday night with the return of perennial favourite Indie Forever and some big names playing the tunes.
You can also get your New Music Fix at Yes and come down from your sonic highs at Ramona with the Morning After Mix on Saturday and Sunday. You’ll need it after the Victoria Warehouse Rave Forever festival finale on Saturday night.
