Walton Hall & Gardens
Head to Walton Hall & Gardens for landscaped grounds, a grand house, and a whole host of fun things to do. The manicured lawns and historical features make it a popular choice for weddings, whilst the alpacas and mini golf make it a good bet for days out with the kids.
Entry is free but there is an additional charge for many of the activities which are largely designed to keep little ones entertained. There’s a play area and some orienteering courses (download them before you go) as well as plenty of space to run around and trees to climb – enough to keep everyone entertained on the cheap.
The paid attractions are good value and include a miniature train ride, mini golf, pitch ‘n’ putt, a treetop high ropes course (which is actually pretty low, so good for more nervous adventurers) and, the main attraction, a small zoo. The animals are more suburban than Serengeti – think pigs, peacocks, parakeets and some rather cute goats.
As well as the regular attractions, Walton Hall & Gardens has a calendar of events, ranging from a Christmas Zoo to Halloween house music festivals.
