Worthington Park
Worthington Park is looked after by a green-fingered bunch of volunteers who raise money, return lost property, improve facilities and generally keep the place looking spick and span. It’s thanks to them that Worthington Park has retained its Green Flag status, and won an Outstanding in the RHS and North West in Bloom community competition. (They’re also a big part of the reason why it’s such a nice place to hang out.)
There are two kids play areas, skate ramps, a bowling green, outdoor gym equipment and plenty of open green space to run around. You can pick up a caffeine hit from Extreme Coffee’s truck when it’s around.
There are benches everywhere if you’d rather take in nature’s display than do a half-pipe. There’s also a rather nice bandstand where you can hear the occasional brass band. The park usually hosts Christmas Carols too.
