Liverpool Playhouse
Together with its partner, The Everyman, The Playhouse provides a home for quality theatre in Liverpool. Expect to see work by national and international theatre companies as well as comedians. A varied bill offers everything from fresh and original Shakespeare adaptations to theatrical takes on popular films as well as lots of family-friendly favourites.
In a city known for striking architecture, the Grade II Listed Playhouse is up there with some of the best. The beautiful white building is a tale of two centuries with a classic Grecian-style 19th century theatre building (originally a music hall) and a 1960s side extension of Modernist columns made from concrete and glass.
The “new” bit houses the foyer and the bars whilst the “old” bit is home to a beautiful auditorium. It seats 677 across three tiers with a traditional proscenium arch layout. The deep jewel colours and period detailing make it an intimate yet impressive theatre experience.
There is an effort to make ticket prices affordable and provide theatre for everyone in Liverpool; prices for most productions start from £10, and they do accessible performances for audiences with access needs.
A range of private hire spaces are available including the Circle Bar, the Redgrave Room, and the Grade II Listed auditorium itself.
