Hinterland
Hinterland is a Northern Quarter speakeasy with a difference – the cocktails, wine and beer are all alcohol-free. This sober bar is located in the basement of the Buddhist Centre and offers an alternative night out for the growing numbers of people who prefer to socialise without alcoholic lubrication.
The music is more chilled out and there’s a relatively relaxed atmosphere compared to its hedonistic neighbours but Hinterland still retains the sense of a proper bar. There are soft drinks but it’s not a childish place. Most are well-made cocktails and there’s a reasonable selection of low or no wines and beers.
As well as being a rather zen bar, Hinterland is also a chilled daytime cafe with a good selection of teas, coffees and cake.
