Lanigans Irish Bar
Just by Liverpool Central on a strip of Irish pubs on Ranelagh Street, you’ll find Lanigans Irish Bar. It’s a lively, well-frequented place that’s a favourite with sports fans thanks to the huge cinema-sized screen that spans the back wall.
The rest of the walls are filled corner-to-corner with back and white portraits of Irish icons, 95 percent male, like the clientele when the racing is on. This is a sports bar, after all, and there’s no shortage of screens showing the action including the rugby and GAA. Live music nights and some very nice cocktails even out the gender mix in the evenings.
At the bar, you’ll find a good range of Irish whiskies, Guinness, and West Coast coolers. If you want a city centre pub to watch a big sporting event with a good atmosphere and sensible prices, head here. Long central tables and plenty of standing space make it ideal for groups. Get there early and you might even be able to bag the corner snug with its own TV screen.
