The Art School Cellars
The Art School Cellars is part of the renowned Art School restaurant but it is also an atmospheric destination in its own right. Head here for a pre-dinner cocktail, a post-prandial port and cheeseboard, or make it the focus of your visit. The Art School Cellars offers a lighter menu than the upstairs restaurant but it’s no less delightful for that.
Enjoy the Art School’s famous afternoon tea served on a stainless steel ferris wheel. These sweet and savoury delicacies are made with the same consummate skill as the tasting menu upstairs, so expect something a little out of the ordinary.
For lunch or dinner, go for dishes such as seasonal risotto, a charcuterie board, or a main course of hay-roast rump of Cumbrian Herdwick lamb. If you’re primarily here for drinks, accompany them with gourmet snacks such as Gordal olives, smoked anchovies, and the like.
The restaurant’s renowned wine list is of course available in the Art School Cellars alongside carefully-crafted cocktails, including seasonal specials and exemplary versions of the classics.
On fine days make the most of the Cellars’ Courtyard; this charming space is well-placed to soak up the afternoon sun (and is heated for cooler evenings).
A busy events programme includes live jazz every Saturday and regular wine-maker dinners.
