Bombay Brew

Restaurant - Indian subcontinent

Bombay Brew brings together beer and Indian street food. Bundobust may be the kings of this combo but unlike its rival, Bombay Brew doesn’t just stick to vegetarian food with its IPAs. Instead, you’ll find everything from lamb lollypops to octopus masala.

For a small town, Rochdale has some seriously impressive buildings and Bombay Brew is lucky to live in such a gorgeous example, the former Wellington Hotel which dates back to the 1700s. Just like the beers and the pav bhaji, it’s a glorious blend of East meets West with solid Lancastrian architecture and a cosy carpeted snug plus cool murals, warm colours and dangling lanterns. The fit-out is as confident as the cooking.

The regularly changing menu includes dishes like Punjabi poutine and lamb biriyani samosa with the constant presence of a lunchtime rice and three. There are plenty of options for vegans and vegetarians. Pair the Mumbai sandwich (a revved up cheese toastie with green chutney, pickles and Indian relish) with some masala chips and you have a winner. It’s all perfect beer food.

In fact, if you’ve just come for perfect beer, the snug is the perfect place to enjoy it. A traditional Rochdale pub is brought back to life with some great craft ales and an exciting menu.
