Cicchetti
As the first San Carlo Cicchetti, the Manchester restaurant had a lot to prove on opening in 2011. Over a decade and several awards later, it’s still going strong.
Located on the ground floor of House of Fraser, this chic, stylish restaurant and bar is ideal for a post-shopping bellini. But it’s very much a destination in its own right, known for its eponymous cicchetti – medium-sized plates that are tailor-made for sharing. They’re a Venetian custom much like Spanish tapas.
Enjoy one or two as a snack with drinks, or several as a meal that’s bursting with variety. Go for the fritto Portofino, named after a fishing village on the Italian Riviera, and featuring shellfish such as scallops and calamari. Or how about some handmade ravioli filled with lobster bisque or truffle and Pecorino?
Don’t miss highlights such as handpicked crab with avocado, rocket, lemon oil and Sardinian flatbread, and street food such as their Sicilian arancini.
