Pollen Bakery KAMPUS
Pollen Bakery began life in a Piccadilly archway before moving out to Ancoats Marina. This second Pollen, at garden neighbourhood Kampus, brings them back to Piccadilly – but this time with a 2,600 sq ft bakery, cafe, and an extended menu to match.
Sporting a stripped-back Scandi style interior and an expansive terrace, the newest permanent Pollen site features a dedicated pastry kitchen which you can spy on through a glass gallery.
Classics to accompany your coffee include the likes of cinnamon buns, pains au chocolate, and cruffins with flavours such as chocolate and roasted hazelnut and cereal milk with Lucky Charms. Or try a clotted cream and strawberry ice cream croissant sandwich (basically a cream tea in frozen form), made using Rogue Ice Cream from Ordsall’s Makers Quarter.
It’s this kind of imagination coupled with a commitment to local indie suppliers that helped founders Hannah Calvert and Chris Kelly pick up the Artisan Food Producer Of The Year title in the Manchester Food And Drink Festival Awards 2021.
Head there for gourmet sandwiches made with their 28 Hour Sourdough, or breakfasts including their brioche bacon butty. It’s walk-in only, but there’s always a takeout option if you can’t bagsy a table.
